Twentynine Palms Photographer {Before and After}

2018-01-28_0001

There is so much that happens behind the scenes for a photographer after the session is over.  The desired affect is to get the image s close to perfect within your camera but there are some magical things that are done right here on my computer.  Above is my nephew – who of course I feel is perfect in every way – as I think about his parents hanging these images on their wall I want there to be a simplicity in looking at his details at the tiny things that are so precious while he is this itty bitty.  Through editing I simply want to remove distractions and create a cohesive image.

2018-01-28_0002

If you watched my work and the direction of it over the years I hope you have continued to see what truly matters, connection.  I want there to be a connection in every image I deliver so that is what I strive for.  When I bring the images home and look at them on my computer screen I want to feel the connection between the subjects or with me and the camera.  Once I have that I already have a beautiful image through editing I just hope to enhance what is already there.

Editing is as much of the art form as the time behind my camera.  It takes time and passion to create the final photograph that I deliver but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

WOW What a year 2016! – Memories by Tasha Photography

2017 has BIG things coming, I am beyond excited but before we move forward let’s take a moment to look back through this year of awesomeness!

Every year I am amazed at the collection of experiences I have through my lens.  The emotions, the connections, the relationships, reunions, new life and existing bonds, the moments captured; I am never quite prepared for all that it is.  The images before me never cease to inspire me to want to work harder for this business and for you my clients and friends.

Throughout the years, I have watched your families grow, change, send loved ones off to new adventures and reconnect again and again.  I have met so many new people, made new friends, hung out with those visiting our beautiful desert while on vacation, snuggled the newest of babies, so many of my own stories and experiences are because of all of you.  Capturing your love stories, your birth stories, your history and your hopes for tomorrow is always my honor and my goal.

In this year, I have shared with you 39 families. 4 weddings, 1 vow renewal, 2 military retirements, 7 life events, 1 birth, 8 mommas & daddies to be, 11 newborns, 6 seniors, 3 military families reunited, 6 cakes smashes, 1 tea party birthday celebration, 1 sunset father/daughter dance session and 8 sessions celebrating childhood milestones.  I look at these collages and I am astonished at this year and the beauty that it has held.

Wow! Where did the Year go? – Key Family

Twentynine Palms Children's Photography - Yucca Valley Children's Photography - Joshua Tree Children's Photography - Key

Almost a year ago I met this little lady, she was brand new to the world!  Her father and I walked into the operating room where her mother laid in anticipation of the biggest moment in her life.  Nathan and I watched, I also photographed as she took her first breathes.  The opportunity to capture these moments in time are beyond blessings to me yet this family has continued to bless me.  Nathan said that day we were tied for life because the 3 of us shared in that moment.

Here we are a year later, I have photographed them many other times, Hannah and I have shared cups of coffee, parenting stories and ideas.  They have become more than clients to me as I have watched them blossom as a family.

This perfect little girl will be one next month, she is celebrated and loved.  Thank you for once again allowing me to capture these times in your lives #keypartyof3

Yucca Valley Maternity and Newborn Photographer – The Martinez’s become 3

Bumps, bumps, and more bumps equals babies.  I so love maternity sessions and of course newborn session so when I am booked to photograph a family through both sessions I am elated.  After some illness Jenn, Pete and I were finally able to meet out at the Big Canyon Morongo Preserve where we talked about what was to come and the welcoming of their little one.  It so happens that Pete and I sort of know each other, my husband and him work together, so that is always that much better.

When mommy-to-be is as stunning as Jenn it makes my job easy and Pete was ready to show off his gorgeous wife!  As we walked through the preserve Jenn was greeted by hikers with enthusiasm; she had never been photographed like this before so the attention made her smile.  She made for a great subject and helped me create beautiful images.  Hopefully she’ll continue to put herself in front of the camera!  Pete kept her laughing, the entire time – a great thing to see between a couple.

Not long and they will be welcoming their little boy; be on the lookout for their newborn session.  I know they can’t wait to meet him and neither can!

Working on blogging more and writing more about the people I meet, the places I go and the relationships that blossom through my photography; I couldn’t have a better couple to chronicle all of these things with.

I met these two last year for a fabulous couple’s session at the Big Canyon Morongo Preserve.  With authentic cultural attire and a relaxed picnic scene we had fun capturing some amazing images; you can check them out here: https://memoriesbytasha.org/2015/01/31/twentynine-palms-photographer-kaur-couples-session/   I also had the opportunity to watch the Mrs. walk to receive her well earned LVN and then the next phase of life happened upon them I got the call or maybe text to photograph the baby bump.

These two are so excited to welcome their baby girl soon so we met at the Whitewater Preserve to capture some baby bump photographs to commemorate this time in their lives.  With only a slight chill in the air we had gorgeous weather and a beautiful mommy.  We wondered around the preserve settling in for images amongst the fall scenery while talking about what was next.  A baby girl on the way brings excitement and the unknowns but these two can’t wait to spoil this little lady and I can’t wait to meet her as well!  Looking forward to seeing all soon as you become 3.

Yucca Valley Maternity and Newborn Photographer – Baby D hits the blog

In November I got to meet and photograph this beautiful family as they celebrated the soon to be arrival of their new addition.  They braved the cold to capture our beautiful desert at sunset and how stunning did it turn out to be.  Sometimes we are just lucky to have the best light, location and clients.  Um how gorgeous is she pregnant?

With 2016 comes new adventures and I am so excited; so when asked to capture the next part of this story I was honored.  This is the first session of the new year and I can’t think of a better way to start.  Baby D and his family elected to have a lifestyle session in the comfort of their home and surrounded by their things.  OMG I am in love with lifestyle newborn sessions!  Need to do more.

As with many of the families that I photograph this family is away from their extended family as they grow due to the military; making great images important for everyone who is not here to enjoy this little man’s sweetness.  He slept perfectly, going to have to ask his dad to swaddle all my newborns BTW!  The few minutes he spent awake were peaceful as you can see below.  His sweet sister was ready to pose with him and well her dog 🙂 so we were able to capture some great sibling shots – she may have needed a tiara in some!

Mom and I were already working on our themes for future sessions so I am pretty excited to get to watch this family grow for the time they get to be here.

{ Key Birth Story } – Twentynine Palms Maternity and Newborn Photographer

When Hannah contacted me to discuss her upcoming birth and newborn pictures I had already decided I wouldn’t be photographing anymore births; well as you can see by these images I caved.  Hannah and I hit it off right away and spent our coffee date discussing photography with a little of everything else.  I am always so amazed and blessed by the many people that this business has brought to my life.  There was some worry that dad might not be local when it was birth time so how could I not be there to capture this amazing time for this wonderful growing family.

This particular birth story started in an operating room instead of the delivery room but what an awesome opportunity for a photographer to be invited into the OR.  I walked in the room as momma was walking away to the OR to meet dad for the first time.  We became fast friends as we were about to experience the amazing arrival of their baby girl.  In true southern girl fashion Hannah wanted her hair to be perfect for pictures so her anesthesiologist made sure to fix her hair for the camera 🙂

I was able to spend a few minutes after baby S arrived with the family, capturing their first moments as three and what a pleasure to watch two people fall in love with their new baby girl and each other all over again.

On day 4 I got to spend the day with baby S, her momma, and grandma capturing some great images for her newborn session.  We used elements of her daddy’s career, family jewelry and other great colors, fabrics and textures to create a series of images that I know they will cherish forever.

Thank you Key family for allowing me to be a part of our family’s story.  I’m so excited for October and apparently for Baby S’s prom 😉

{ Merino Newborn Session – Sort of :) } Twentynine Palms Maternity and Newborn Photographer

Newborn sessions are done in the first 5-10 days after a little one arrives so when this family contacted me and wanted to do a newborn styled session with their 3 month old I was honestly a little worried but always up for the challenge.  To my surprise it wasn’t a challenge at all; this delightful beauty was sweet from start to finish and oh so photogenic.  Mom and I worked seamlessly from pose to pose, she had some great items to use that went perfectly with what I brought.

We added a few pieces of patriotism to our session to honor the 4th of July and her daddy who is a Marine.  I love when families are so proud of their service and country!  Lucky for me I get a lot of that working in a military community.  The sacrifice these families make is real, service members that spend countless hours away from their loved ones and often in danger.

This little lady truly exudes timeless beauty in each of these images.  I hope her family loves them as much as I do ❤ !

{ Ashleigh and Andre’s New Little One } Twentynine Palms Maternity and Newborn Photography

These two came to me in May for their maternity session so I was excited to also be asked to photograph their new little one shortly there after.  We met half way at a small park in Lucerne Valley for an outdoor session where we had lots of fun.  A cousin came along so of course we had to add her into the session.  With two active duty parents this little one is in for an adventurous lifestyle.

Photographing newborns is always amazing to me.  The opportunity to capture a time in a family’s life that is new and all about love.  Each story different and full of exploration of who you have become as an individual, as a parent, and as a family.  What an honor to be asked to be a part of this time in each of my client’s lives!
