Existing with Memories by Tasha Photography – Twentynine Palms Photographer

Do you exist in your family’s photo album? Do you put yourself in front of the camera with your kids and your husband? Where are the photographs that include you and your parents? How about the best friend? I am a photographer. I can tell you all day long why it is so important for you to exist in images for yourself and those that love you. I can also tell you the many excuses I myself have had for not existing in pictures. I need to lose weight. I am not happy with my haircut. I don’t like my smile. I am not wearing the right outfit. The list could go on for pages I am sure. Let’s take time to reflect though on each of these excuses, do any of them matter to our children, our parents, our spouses, our best friends? They don’t, I promise.

I have realized over the past few years that I too can no longer make excuses, my children, my grandchildren deserve to know I existed through photographs. Someday I want them to proudly and fondly talk about the experience that exists in those images. A single image can bring back a smile, a scent, a forgotten moment and we should be there for that.

After 7 years of photographing other families I have had the pleasure of capturing HUGE moments in other’s lives; weddings, births, graduations and beyond. I have also had the honor to capture families as they prepare to say final goodbyes to their loved ones, as they hope for final memories and photographs that memorialize their connections. Photographs really are a road map that tell the story of where we have been, who was with us and what did that experience feel like. As a professional photographer I of course want you to book those family sessions, make sure to capture your babies when they are little with a professional but I also hope you consider the story you leave behind. The one that your children can lay out on the floor and giggle over, the one that you can tell an entire weekend’s adventures in, the ones that capture your family’s dynamics.

Do you exist in your family’s photo album? Make a challenge today to take a goofy selfie with your little ones, book a session where someone else is peeking in from the outside, print an image to place on your desk at work. These are not only your moments and memories but are the future conversations of loved ones.

This family and I have been through maternity, newborn, a grandma visit and now as they are preparing to say good-bye to the desert we captured Myla’s 1/2 birthday!  As a military family they have many adventures to come but I am so glad our paths crossed here in 29 Palms.  And maybe we will meet again ❤

Rasmussen Engagement with Memories by Tasha Photography – Twentynine Palms Photographer

Cuteness and love were in the air.  Couples sessions are always a fun adventure.  As a photographer I want to capture their relationship, their time uninterrupted but as a client they are so aware that a camera is there photographing them and their every move.  Taking the time to slow down and work together to achieve a natural session is so important.

Kathryn contacted me before the holidays to set up a sunset engagement session; her one request Joshua Trees!  I love out desert and I love to capture clients that are excited about it’s beauty so of course I was ready to oblige.  15 years I have been here and I still believe there is nothing like our sunrises and sunsets.

We met at a hot spot in Joshua Tree before traveling to a desert location so we took advantage of getting to know each other a little and of the great textures at the JT Saloon.  I was quickly aware I would have to remind these two to look at the camera every once in awhile because they were fairly smitten with one another.

Kathryn from the east coast and Jack from the west are here in Twentynine Palms courtesy of the Marine Corps but they are enjoying their time here, together awaiting the next adventure.  A fall wedding to plan on the other coast and possibly an upcoming move they are fully learning all about Marine Corps family life.

Playful, flirty and fun would be my best description of these two and their session.  I asked Jack a couple of questions, “Do you ever give her piggy back rides?”  His response, ” Depends on where we are going.”  It was stated with such confidence no one would have guessed the real answer NEVER.  So we tried it.  I also asked him, “Do you have a thing, you know a special sweet kiss or something?”  Well what followed was a silly rendition of kissing but oh so sweet.

I wish you many years of happiness and joy!  May life and the Marine Corps take you on many adventures together.  Congratulations Jack and Kathryn!2017-01-08_0001

2017 Announcements with Memories by Tasha Photography – Twentynine Palms Photographer

Happy New Year! a few days late…. 2017!  I don’t even know how it is 2017.  The years seem to pass faster the older I get so I realize more every day how precious my own moments, memories are.  How excited I am to be invited to capture yours.  With the fear of sounding slightly corny I truthfully imagine your future children, your grandchildren peering upon these images years from now.  Something great happens when my children spread a box of pictures on the floor.  They giggle. They remember.  They ask questions.  They connect with these images and their memories.

This business started as a hobby that grew through out the years.  Never could I have imagined where it would be today, all that it would give me or all that it would mean to my soul.  But it replenishes my being regularly.

With the new year I have a few new personal and professional goals.  No different than most every body else.  I won’t be sharing them all today but I do have two that I can’t wait to tell you about…….

Life, friendship, and business has allowed me to begin a partnership with another local business.  Desert Birth and Wellness will display pieces of moments captured during maternity, birth and newborn sessions on their walls.  Through our collaboration with one another clients can find one more piece to their birth story in one place, whether it be they need photography services or anything (almost) prenatal, birth, and postnatal related we can connect them to the right professionals.  I will proudly provide maternity, birth, and newborn packages to clients of Desert Birth & Wellness; with a free print for mentioning them!  Of course I am always open to discussing any of your other photography needs.  This partnership also includes the opportunity to utilize a space for holiday minis so be on the lookout for something fun soon!

The other big news that I want to share is that we have recently purchased a project that will eventually be the Memories by Tasha Photography Studio space.  I will still do most work outside, on location in the beautiful place we call home but will be able to provide a studio location for newborns, childhood milestones, holiday children’s minis, headshots and boudoir photography.  There will be some awesomeness when it is grand opening time so make sure to always keep those eyes open!

Kevin Class of 2017 with Memories by Tasha Photography – Twentynine Palms Photographer

I strive in each session to tell a story, to create a lasting memory of this time in someone’s history.  Senior sessions are a chance for that young adult to express themselves as they are learning about who they are and who they want to be.  It is an in-between two paradigms in time for the senior and for the parents.  A time of great hope and sorrow.  When I get the chance to capture this for a senior and their parents it is a great privilege.

Kevin and I set out in the morning with some ideas but with no certain direction.  We found ourselves visiting Lucky Park where he spent many hours in the pool as a swimmer who has achieved many awards.  We spent some time at the iconic 29 Palms Inn, photographing near the fall colors and only natural body of water in Twentynine Palms.  Kevin wanted a couple of images taken with the metal art sign that decorates our highway and honors our city’s namesake.  Lastly we climbed some rocks and captured his personality amongst the beauty of the desert.  We even played with his hot rod mustang and added it into a few images too.

Kevin is an avid swimmer. He was ready to represent his high school and class with his letterman jacket.  Also an appearance his ASB shirt.  We even took sometime to sport his school colored beanie to add a little bit of teenager into our session.

In June I get to hang with Kevin and his family as he walks the stage to receive his diploma.  Such an exciting time in life for all!

Margie and the Family – Twentynine Palms Family Photographer, Memories by Tasha Photographer

I understand all too well how difficult it is to get an updated family photo now that the kids are grown and living somewhere else so when Margie asked me to come over on Christmas Eve I was game.  It was definitely a cold desert winter day but everyone was a good sport about hanging out in the impressive view of their home’s yard.  Yes this is what they get to wake up to!

So they all had me cracking up the entire time.  From the pup who seemed to be right in there for photos, to the granddaughter who had her supermodel poses practiced and ready, and the boys who were playful and ornery keeping everyone smiling.  Capturing this families dynamic was my pleasure and these images speak to their love for one another!

I know Margie’s heart will melt and I am so glad we were able to spend a small piece of the holiday making memories that she can hang on her wall.

Jett turns ONE – Twentynine Palms Photographer, Memories by Tasha Photography

So I was excited when momma contacted me to do this little man’s ONE year photos because you see we worked together to create a fun announcement about his momma’s pregnancy with him.  His momma is always creative and fun to design a session with.  And with a name like Jett nothing like airplanes to create a gorgeous set of images.

Unfortunately his session was scheduled on a cold, blistery day here in the desert so some modifications to his session were required.  Jett gave several great pictures, smiles, tears and all but he decided he was done with the weather before he smashed his cake.  Cue a 4 year old sister, who was dying to get her hands and taste buds on that cake, to have a fun cake smash with the best cutie pie pictures and it all works out.
