Where to even begin? Hailee and I have worked together since she was about 6. She was forever the assistant; requiring certain poses and finding areas that would make good scenery for our images. Over the years I have had the pleasure of working with her, getting to know her, her family and just watching her blossom into an amazing young women who is not only super smart but also super athletic. Hailee played many sports her entire life but softball eventually stole her heart and that is what she is currently doing, along with her studies Hailee is in Illinois playin softball for the Elmhurst Blue Jays! And let’s not forget how gorgeous she is!!
We got up really early and took our time to wonder around the community she grew up. Finding fun backdrops to add interest but Hailee’s smile was the true capture.
The hot pink dress shows off some of Hailee’s style and of course once again she killed and gave her mom and I so many gorgeous shots that it is hard to pick just one or two so as you can see this blog post is blown up with images. We have to talk about the hat! Hailee’s father respects and loves the man who wore his hat. He often tells stories and memories about his dad; the great man that he was. This hat has followed us in images for years with multiple children in this family. Hailee wanted to give honor to her grandfather by including it in her Senior Session and it looks like the hat was made for her.
The desert and it’s beauty really are of the variety that you either love it or you hate it. Growing up near the Joshua Tree National Park often teaches you just how beautiful the desert really is. This becomes a home, it becomes a piece in your heart that you know you are lucky to live her and see what it has to offer. Hailee once again rocked her images and showed off home for her!
This is what she has worked for. Spent countless hours studying, playing several sports throughout the year and falling in love with softball. Hailee was not only invite to attend Elmhurst University as a student but also as a softball player, #10 by the way. Although I know her family misses her every moment of the day they couldn’t be prouder of her adventurous spirit rising to the occasion and taking advantage of what she has worked so hard for. I can also say they super busy raising the next 3 kiddos that follow in age to Hailee.
The honor a family bestows on me to truly be a part of their lives and to watch their children grow, thrive is amazing. I am so glad to have captured this moment and so many more for this entire family. Love you Jenkins Clan
We met over a year ago to announce that the Okkema’s were growing from two to three! We planned the maternity session and newborn session, I couldn’t have been more excited when you asked me to continue to commemorate this time indoor family’s life! From announcements to being a one year old ready to conquer the park, that cake but not the balloon machine ;).
This girl did a number on that cake. She really didn’t eat much of it but she made sure it knew who the boss was and that she made a good mess for me to photograph! Her excited smile had us cracking up the entire session and made me smile while editing these gorgeous images.
Can’t wait to continue to capture your journey as the Marine Corps takes you across the country. How lucky am I that they are sending you somewhere I already have a place to stay! Continue to enjoy every moment that this time has to offer and I look forward to see you all soon!
These are one of the gifts that I feel honored everyday to share with my clients. The moments that I spend with a family while capturing all the little details are always amazing. Parenthood is an adventure and these few moments are the mere beginning but will last a lifetime adorned on the walls of family.
There is so much that happens behind the scenes for a photographer after the session is over. The desired affect is to get the image s close to perfect within your camera but there are some magical things that are done right here on my computer. Above is my nephew – who of course I feel is perfect in every way – as I think about his parents hanging these images on their wall I want there to be a simplicity in looking at his details at the tiny things that are so precious while he is this itty bitty. Through editing I simply want to remove distractions and create a cohesive image.
If you watched my work and the direction of it over the years I hope you have continued to see what truly matters, connection. I want there to be a connection in every image I deliver so that is what I strive for. When I bring the images home and look at them on my computer screen I want to feel the connection between the subjects or with me and the camera. Once I have that I already have a beautiful image through editing I just hope to enhance what is already there.
Editing is as much of the art form as the time behind my camera. It takes time and passion to create the final photograph that I deliver but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I say it every year, I am going to be better about blogging these sessions, these moments in time that I am so lucky to be trusted to capture. This family and I have been capturing moments together since the beginning of my business and I can’t express how awesome it is to have watched them through the years. I have grown to have an amazing friendship with the momma of this family and continue to be proud of what they stand for. Thank you for once again letting me into your lives Jenkins family!
Military Homecomings. The infamous white buses that bring so much sadness as they leave and so much joy when they return. There isn’t a homecoming that doesn’t tug at my heart strings this one was no different.
As the Wilson family waited for their Marine to return momma was running after 3 kiddos all in different stages of excitement. They just wanted their daddy home. As I edited this session I fell in love all over again with the moments I get to capture. From anticipation to pure delight you can see each of these kiddos glow when they are finally able to tell stories face to face and to hug, well actually jump all over, dad. Mom waited patiently in the wings to greet her husband. I love the image with dad and mom, kids hanging off of him, a quick moment to sneak in their very own hello!
Working on catching up on all things photography and couldn’t think of a better peek to post today than this Military Homecoming. There are always so many emotions in the night when you are waiting for your Marine to come home. This was a particularly cold night in our desert as we waited but you could feel the anticipation for the Combs.
Most of the time I have not met the Marine coming home before they arrive so I have to find them in the crowd, their smile as they see their family tells it all. This night was no different so I was excited to capture a shot of dad as he laid eyes on his girls for the first time in a while.
I love, love, love these sessions. As a mom they absolutely pull on my heartstrings and now that my girls are older the opportunities for these things are fewer. With Mother’s Day fast approaching I am reminded of the special connection between a parent and a child, between a mother and her baby. When Leslie contacted me to schedule this special session I was excited to help commemorate her very first Mother’s Day and when two beauties show up like this magic happens. This session gave me all the feels. Enjoy!
I am regularly reminded how very lucky I am when I get to spend the day with amazing little human beings like these three; I really find their mom delightful too. I have had the pleasure of not only working with them over the last three years but also getting to know their family. I am lucky. We went on an adventure for this particular milestone session to commemorate their 3rd and 5th birthdays plus their love of trains. While there are no trains at this nonworking station it sure did give us a great backdrop and feel. The kids felt like they were on an adventure although we were told the imaginary train that pulled through whisking the kids off did not provide any snacks so we had to take care of that ourselves. Thank you again Niemi family for ALWAYS providing me with the cutest models and an afternoon of laughter!
This is such an exciting time in our youths’ lives. They are preparing for their tomorrows, enjoying their todays, and trying to figure it all out along the way. This beautiful young lady was so much fun to photograph. We wondered around the Morongo Preserve and Pioneertown to capture these fantastic images. She wasn’t too sure about being the focus of the camera at first but as you can see she was a natural. Both beautiful inside and out she is looking forward to her future all while serving God. A wonderful soul.
